TMA Global Elects David Cohen, Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP, 2016 President
J. Scott Victor transitions to TMA Chairman; Additional Board Positions Announced
CHICAGO, October 28, 2015 – TMA Global, the largest organization dedicated to corporate renewal, announced the election of David Cohen, Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP, as 2016 President. The announcement was made during The TMA Annual Conference on October 6th in Scottsdale, Arizona. Cohen’s term will begin on January 1, 2016.
“I am eager to begin my term as president and am honored by the opportunity. The TMA has really expanded its reach the past few years and I intend to add to the momentum.” said Cohen. “As president, I will work with our global chapters to focus on growth in Central America, an area I feel has great opportunities for both TMA and the industry professionals that reside there.”
Cohen is a senior practitioner in Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP’s Toronto office and one of Canada’s leading restructuring and insolvency lawyers. He is an executive member of the National Financial Services Industry Group and practice coordinator for the Distressed M&A Practice. Cohen has been recognized for restructuring/insolvency in Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business 2012-2014. David is a member of the CCH Corporate Law Advisory Board and was a visiting instructor in Bankruptcy Law at Osgoode Hall Law School for five years up to 2001.
Current TMA President J. Scott Victor, SSG Capital Advisors, LLC, will transition to Chairman in 2016 and Hon. Kevin J. Carey, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Delaware, will transition to Immediate Past Chair.
