Thomas J. Allison, CTP, is the first recipient of the Peter Tourtellot Award.
TMA established the Tourtellot Award in 2017 to recognize individuals who have displayed outstanding leadership and volunteerism involving the TMA Certification Program. The award was named the Peter Tourtellot Award in honor of past TMA Chair Peter Tourtellot, one of the TMA Certification Program's founders and champions throughout his career.
TMA Global Chair, Milly Chow, partner, Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, and TMA Global President, Kevin A. Krakora, CTP, principal, restructuring, KPMG LLP, presented Mr. Allison with the award on Thursday, February 8 at the 2018 TMA Distressed Investing Conference in Las Vegas.
"Tom is one of the foremost professionals in the corporate renewal industry. He has been a corporate officer or key advisor in some of the world's largest and most complex turnarounds," said Krakora. "Tom is recognized for his experience and leadership in crisis situations, and equally known for his generosity in the community and with charitable organizations."
Among his accolades, Mr. Allison most recently received the 2017 TMA Chicago/Midwest Legend Award. He was a founder and past chairman of TMA. He was also a founder and former chairman of the Association for Certified Turnaround Professionals (ACTP). He has received multiple TMA Turnaround and Transaction of the Year awards.
"Tom was essential during the acquisition of the ACTP program," said Chow. "Without his leadership and professionalism, the TMA Certification Program would not be what it is today. TMA could not have picked a more eligible candidate for the first Peter Tourtellot Award. Tom embodies the spirit of volunteerism for which the award was created."
