2019: The Year of Opportunity

MY TAKE: TMA CEO COLUMNWelcome to the year of opportunity. Together we will face challenges, break through barriers, and make the unimaginable our reality. This Big Tent is about to get bigger and greater than ever before. I welcome you to come on this 2019 journey with me.

The year has already gotten off to a great start. With Global President Jeffrey Hampton and Chair Kevin Krakora, CTP, at the helm, the promise of what is to come will ensure a TMA experience for our members like never before.

Jeffrey brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to his presidency. Having been a leader at the chapter and global levels, he is no stranger to the power of TMA. A proven leader as chapter president, a visionary as an early founder of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Symposium, and having served multiple board roles at the global level, Jeffrey’s passion, vision and zeal cannot be understated.

In just a few weeks, I will have the privilege to spend time with almost 1,000 of the best and brightest of our members who will attend the Distressed Investing Conference in Las Vegas. And this year, we’ve given it a new look and feel to ensure a more engaging experience for a more diverse group of participants than ever before.

Our attendee lounge will be more vibrant, with live recordings of TMA Talks podcasts, and, in conjunction with a media outlet, the recording of video segments available exclusively for our members after the conference. We have enhanced our education panels to provide wider appeal, and we have designed a more enriching experience for our leadership, with a hands-on onboarding project and interactive governance sessions. Our goal is to be more engaged with you and to motivate our members to be more involved as we up the value of TMA.

But like every year, we must also be prepared to meet the challenges that lie ahead. The continuation of the Chapter Health Presidential Working Group, this year led by Corporate Secretary and Alabama Chapter member Derek Meek, enters its second phase. And the goal this year is to take what’s been learned and build upon that through cross-chapter connectivity, communication and outreach, and engagement to support growth.

The launch of the International Presidential Working Group holds much promise as well. With a committee comprised of members from the United Kingdom, EU, Australia, and South America, we will build a “United Nations” of TMA. It will embrace the strength of our international chapters and take on goals aimed at further support and growth, another critical aspect of what makes us TMA strong.

Our TMA NextGen and TMA NOW groups continue to prosper, and leadership in both has embraced this era of professional opportunity. The NextGen Leadership Conference continues to grow, and like all other areas of the organization it, too, is situated to morph into an ever more engaging and enriching professional experience.

TMA remains the most professionally diverse organization in the corporate renewal, restructuring, and corporate health space. With the growth of our CTP opportunities and new programming around that designation to be announced soon, longer and more diverse conference experiences, and bringing together our professionals through stronger networking opportunities, 2019 is the year of vibrancy for TMA.

Join me in this year of opportunity. Be part of the conversation. Engage by participating, contributing, and ensuring our collective success. The future has arrived, and we at TMA are ready to embrace it with an emboldened spirit and energy that will make this the year in which we exceed expectations and bring more value to all.
